Two Suspense Filled Series from Daniel Kemp

Daniel Kemp's introduction to the world of espionage and mystery happened at an early age when his father was employed by the War Office in Whitehall, London, at the end of WWII.

However, it wasn't until after his father died that he showed any interest in anything other than himself!

Below are two fantastic series:

Heirs and Descendants— Put Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs together,  mix in a good proportion of A House Of Cards, and you have the Heir and Descendants series.

The Lies and Consequences series is built on true stories my father related to me from his days in Army Intelligence at the end of World War II. I added  some extra colour.

How can I write about a Black woman in the hood? I grew up there. I was born to a single mother on welfare in the county hospital. From my early childhood on throughout my teen years we bounced around a lot; always in the hood and often in the government housing projects. Also, my wife of 30+ years, who helps with these books, was a pregnant teen right in the middle of Compton (L.A. Calif).

The language in the hood changes almost daily, but the people . . . they remain exactly the same.

As the only boy in the family I was surrounded by women. My mother's house was where the neighborhood women gathered to talk. If you have ever been around that type of situation, you know how little boys become invisible and the women talk about anything and everything. If women talk about it, I've heard it.

My world oscillated between inside and outside. The guys outside, the women inside. The guys started stupid and tough on the playground and eventually on the streets and in jail. The women wasted a lot of time talking about the idiot moves us guys did. My "safe place" was books.

Hard to believe, but way back when I was a kid, TVs were expensive. We didn't have one, so I grew up reading. From early on I could get lost in, The Little Train That Could, or later in books like, Lobo in the Wild. Reading was a joy, but because we moved so often, school was arduous. After attending eighteen schools, I dropped out of high school during my senior year and joined the army. Later, with my military duty finished I returned to night school where my love of words payed off. Eventually I became the first in my family to graduate from university.

As adults, many of my childhood friends went to jail. I stayed out, wore a badge and gun, and occasionally ran into old acquaintances in the system.

In more recent years I worked overseas. For almost eleven years we lived in Vietnam and Thailand where I worked with the rich and influential then spent vacations in shacks with dirt floors and caught frogs in rice paddies for dinner. It's also where Michelle Angelique went through her training. The things Michelle talks about are based on my real experiences and people I met. Of course, I never did any of the ninja stuff.

One February day, when Hephaestus was hitting on The Muses, they began a playful argument: Is it possible for a mortal man to be *too* creative? What would happen to his primitive brain if it were to suddenly overflow with ideas? Zeus, never one to leave an argument to the fate of mere words, sent a lightning bolt to earth where it struck upon a hapless young man--your author, James Schannep.

Thus Click Your Poison books were created as a repository to store the overabundant brain fruit. Each of Schannep's books split into three unique storylines and contain over 50 possible endings. But the fate of each book; nay, of mankind, rests with YOU, dear reader. For it is your choices that will shape the story in these books.

From the Author

What is a Click Your Poison book?
Gamebooks, Interactive Fiction, Branching Path Stories, Text-based Adventures, Choose Your Own... Whatever you call it, I write tales in many different genres with many, many endings. And you, Dear Reader, determine how these novels unfold. Darker, longer, and more complex than the old children's paperbacks, Click Your Poison books are the future of decision-based reading. Simply click the hyperlinked choice, and the story unfolds before you, different each time.

Do I need to read the series in order?
No. All the Click Your Poison titles have a shared multiverse, but there's no need to read them chronologically. Just pick the one that interests you most and jump right in!

Are there more coming soon?
Yes! You can follow my blog at jamesschannep.com or sign up for my new-release mailing list here: eepurl.com/bdWUBb

Legends and Thrills in the Stillwaters Run Deep Series

Frank Talaber was born in Beaverlodge, Alberta, where the claim to fame is a fox with flashing eyes in the only pub, yeah, big place, that's why his family left when he was knee high to a grasshopper and moved to Edmonton, Alberta. Eventually he got tired of ten months of winter and two of bad slush and moved to Chilliwack, BC. Great place, Cedar trees, can cut the grass nine months of the year and, oh it does snow here once or twice. Just enough to have to find out what happened to the bloody snow shovel and have to use it. GRRR.

He's spent most of his life either fixing cars or managing automotive shops and is a licensed automotive technician. However it’s the little muses that keep twigging on his pencil won’t let his writing pad stay blank.

He's had several short stories published, short-listed in contests over the years and a few automotive articles published in RV magazines. He has several novels published through BWL publishing, which include the genres of urban fantasy, thriller, crime and romance. He also has written in science fiction, spiritual, erotica and comedy genres as well.

When asked once, "where does this creativity spring from?" He answered, "It’s the Gypsy blood from my mother’s Hungarian ancestry."

Literary madness that drives his wife crazy when he leaves their bed in the middle of the night to pound out some sort of prosaic induced brilliance. “Here we go again, the next War and Peace, Aka 21st century,” she moans, only to realize it’s either gibberish or there’s no lead in his pencil and he's scribbled on sixteen blank pages in the dark.

When asked about Frank Talaber’s Writing Style? He usually responds with: Mix Dan Millman (Way of The Peaceful Warrior) with Charles De Lint (Moonheart) and throw in a mad scattering of Tom Robbins (Even Cowgirls Get The Blues).

PS: He’s better looking than Stephen King (Carrie, The Stand, It, The Shining) and his romantic stuff will have you gasping quicker than Robert James Waller (Bridges Of Madison County).Or as is often said: You don’t have to be mad to be a writer, but it sure helps.

Jill Andrews Cozy Mystery Series

I write contemporary sweet romances and cozy mysteries. I live in a small town in Washington State, near Seattle. I love to write about small coastal towns, although those that I write about are figments of my imagination.

I used to be a tax accountant, but realized that writing romantic stories about people falling in love or making my amateur sleuths discover secrets about their suspects was way more fun than depreciating assets.

There's never a dull moment in my household, with a tech geek husband, two small boys that keep me on my toes, two cranky cats, and a mischievous house rabbit. Tidbits of my everyday life have a tendency to find their way into my fiction, so watch out! :)

The Dead Red Mystery Series

My Lalla Bains series is about a tall, blond and beautiful ex-model turned crop-duster who, to quote Lalla Bains, has "been married so many times they oughta revoke my license." Lalla is no Danielle Steele character & she's not afraid of chipping her manicure. Scratch that, the girl doesn't have time for a manicure what with herding a bunch of recalcitrant pilots and juggling work orders just to keep her father's flagging business alive. Beginning with A Dead Red Alibi, Lalla and her family will reside in South East Arizona where she will divide her time between a fledgling P.I. business with cousin, Pearlie Bains, and volunteering as a team member with Cochise County Search and Rescue.

New York Cozy Mystery - Meet the Next Miss Marple!

Gallagher Gray is an American writer who based her Hubbert & Lil series on her discovery of New York City in the 1980's and 90's, particularly her admiration for New Yorkers who did not shrink from who they were and who lived life full speed ahead. Both Auntie Lil and T.S. Hubbert are based on real individuals who influenced her life and taught her that age is a state of mind and has nothing to do with the number of years you have trod the earth.

Each book in the Hubbert & Lil series features a distinct area of New York City. "Partners in Crime" takes place on Wall Street, in a buttoned-down private bank determined to hide secrets almost as old as its wealthy clients. "A Cast of Killers" examines the grit-meets-glitz world of Hell's Kitchen, which rims the Broadway area and is home to aging actresses and Irish mobsters alike. The garment district is the setting for "Death of a Dream Maker" while the Lincoln Center area, along with the world of ballet, forms the backdrop for "A Motive for Murder."

A reviewer once said of Gallagher Gray, "the author has a fond eye for the eccentric." This love for the uniqueness of human beings, in all of their flawed glory, along with a knack for depicting the basic absurdity of life, runs throughout all of the Hubbert & Lil books -- creating a series that offers keen insights into human nature, gentle humor, and more than its share of uplifting moments.

Fun, Funny, Cozy Mysteries from New Orleans!

I am born and raised in New Orleans. I started going to parades and watched them from sitting on my Dad's shoulders before I could walk. I've been in Girl Scout parades, high school parades, St. Patrick's parades, Mardi Gras parades, on dance teams in parades and just about any loosely organized group who deemed it necessary to parade. I just can't help myself. I love parades.
I attended Loyola of the South here in New Orleans so I wouldn't be far from a parade.

I spent 20+ years working for and retired from AT&T. I have worked and lived in New York City, Madison, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama returning home for the big parade every year--Mardi Gras.
clm.photo .jpeg copy

Before Katrina, I moved away and back three times, four if you count rebuilding the same house at the same address after Katrina flooded my home. I did miss a couple of parades that year.

I'm an avid sailor and Scuba diver for many years, and made lasting friendships from sailing and dive trips. I love travel and if the opportunity presents itself, I'm there. Except for a brief stint where I had to own and learn how to ride a motorcycle, I've been a water baby. When I am not enjoying fun with friends in all New Orleans has to offer- sailing and racing with friends on Lake Pontchartrain, Mardi Gras, parties and festivals- I head to Florida.

I am an ardent animal lover and direct volunteer breed rescue work as Schnauzer Rescue of Louisiana. I love to write and I write about what I know and love! You can take the girl out of New Orleans, but you can't take the New Orleans out of the girl!

Dead & Breakfast, the second book in my series THE NEW ORLEANS GO CUP CHRONICLES placed in two categories in the 2014 SOLA Chapter of RWA's Dixie Kane contest for Short/Long Series for Contemporary fiction and for Single Title Contemporary fiction. My first book is RESCUED BY A KISS.

Diane Rapp became an entrepreneur when she started her own dog grooming salon in Santa Barbara, California. She spent the next thirty years as a small business owner; she sold real estate, started an office supply/copy center, and performed free-lance advertising design. During all those years Diane wrote stories as a cure for insomnia.

After writing a tour guide book to the Caribbean together, Diane’s daughter gave her the idea of writing a mystery set on cruise ships in the Caribbean. "Murder Caribbean-Style" and "Murder on a Ghost Ship" are the first two novels of a High Seas Mystery series. Readers meet the main characters of the series and learn about life aboard a ship while solving murders. There is danger and romance mixed in with the action. The third book in the series, "Murder for Glacier Blue" was released in August of 2013. The novel takes the reader on a cruise to Alaska with an art heist, murder, and a wedding planned for Glacier Bay.

Now readers may "play" games based on Diane's High Seas Mystery Series in a new game book. No lines to learn or parts to play. Three games designed for home or large parties are included in this full-color print edition. Use the games for fundraisers or pot luck parties and have loads of fun.
